This dress is so lovely up close that it’s almost like an oil painting. The delicate stretch cotton and the soft lilac color could be great for day or evening, and the architecture makes it much more visually interesting than the average sundress.

Coincidence or not? Kristen Stewart wore JET Jeans to the after party of  her new film, The Runaways. Kristen plays rocker Joan Jett in the film, so I can’t help but wonder if she wore them on purpose. Either way, she looks like she’s having a lot of fun for once!

Fergie was seen at the after party at the Bacardi VIP Room at M2 Ultra Lounge in honor of the Black Eyed Peas. She was wearing J Brand 901 leggings in Pitch that she was spotted in before. Lilit and I are fairly skeptical about things that smell like things, especially after that whole unfortunate little episode with Marc Jacobs’ biscotti perfume (which smelt like pork and cleaning fluid). But, oh, God, we could not even have expected the brilliance that is Lather’s Almond, Milk & Honey Body Butter.

We love the way this product smells in a freakish way that makes us think that maybe it has magical properties. The scent transported us – like the taste of Proust’s madeleines – back to the happiest moments of our pre-teen days.  The lotion is supposed to do something for our dry hands too, but whatever, we just slather it over them so we can hold our hands inconspicuously close to our noses and inhale the scent. I wish they would turn this into a perfume, because I would spritz it on my pillow every night before I went to sleep. But maybe it’s just us? No, it’s not. We went around the office demanding that people try this and say what it smells like. These are their comments:

This is like cake batter. It is delicious.

It reminds me of cherry Lip Smackers. Remember cherry Lip Smackers? I used to have a necklace of those. There was a pineapple scent and a Dr Pepper scent. It wasn’t a real necklace. It was a rope necklace.

Is it for tasting? This smells like it would taste so good. (No, it is lotion).

It is sugar and spice and everything nice. Minus spice.

No, BonneBell. Yes, it’s like my first BonneBell lip gloss. I can’t remember what flavor that was supposed to be, but it was so good.

It totally does smell like BonneBell. Or sun tan lotion, but not gross.

It’s some kind of pastry.

Like your mother used to make?

To me, it smells like the time my family went to Hawaii when I was 9, and the lobby of the hotel smelt like gardenias and coconuts. I loved that trip.

Like a cookie. A fresh baked cookie. No, no, it’s Dum Dums. Remember? The lollipops. It’s some sort of candy Dum Dum flavor.

Oh God, can I eat it?

No, no, this is cherry. Cherry sourballs. It smells just like cherry sourballs.

Obviously, the smell is different for everyone because everyone’s idea of happiness is different. This “Almond, Milk and & Honey Body Butter” label is clearly just a cover because they couldn’t write “The Happiest Moments of Your Youth, in Scent Form” because that would seem too meta. Still, they should have given us a hint and called it “Rosebud,” you know?

Also, if the publicist could send us twenty bottles they’d be appreciated, because now everyone wants some.

On a scale of 1-10 ranking whether this thing smells like the thing it is supposed to smell like: 1,000,000. Because it exceeds almond, milk & honey and instead achieves the very scent of joy.

Sure, I love rompers … on five year olds. However, if you’re at an age when there’s no longer a risk that you will pull your skirt up to your waist and wave it back and forth at the sandbox, then maybe you should just wear a dress. You know, like a grown up. Or pants! Pants work too.

Why do rompers exist? Seriously, did someone just decide “I am not competent enough to put on both shorts and a shirt” and had to stitch them all together? And don’t tell me, “a romper is great because it’s a coordinated outfit all in one!” So is a dress. So are pants a shirt that you took five minutes to coordinate – if you want your outfit to look like a romper, you can buy the pants and the shirt in the exact same fabric. Wait, that would look silly. Oh. Right.

But at least you’d be able to go to the restroom without peeling your entire body out of your garment. Wearing a romper is like being stuck in a one-piece swimsuit every time you go to the bathroom. But maybe they’ll make you looking amazing!

Except that they won’t. Most of the rompers I see (with the exception of ones being worn by stick thin models, and if you are a stick thin model, you can wear pretty much anything and look okay) aren’t making anyone’s figure look all that great. Which sort of makes sense – I imagine the designer has to imagine how the entirety of, say, a size 8 woman’s body looks, rather than just her top. Or her bottom. Sure, that’s sort of the case with a dress, too, but a slightly flowing skirt is going to give you some leeway. And, unfortunately, people are often say, a size 6 on top, a size 8 on the bottom.

The end result is that, unless your body is exactly the same size all the way through is that some portion of the romper does not fit properly. This is why every time one of your friends tries on a romper they say something to the effect of “it was cute, but the shorts were way too short. But I bought it anyway, because I make bad decisions.”  They don’t really say that about the bad decisions though, because somehow, they see it as being okay that one entire part of the outfit fits the wrong way. This does not happen when you buy a shirt and a pair of pants. If the pants don’t fit right, you don’t buy them. If the top doesn’t fit right, you don’t buy it. This is obvious buying-things logic.

But it’s not just that the fit on them always seems to be slightly off. I think the thing about them that makes me cringe most is that they’re a ridiculously infantilizing fashion statement. They basically say “I am still a playful little girl at heart, I just want to caper with you during playtime. Math is hard!” I think for me this sentiment gets reinforced by the frequency with which women who are supposed to appear childlike and unthreatening are thrust into jumpers – remember Chrissy from Three’s Company? That girl was always in a romper. With pigtails. Do you see Meryl Streep in a romper? No. You do not. Try to imagine Hillary Clinton in a Romper. Actually, don’t. It will make your head explode.

Oh, okay, fine, those women are not commonly accepted “style icons”. Audrey Hepburn. Audrey Hepburn would eat a plate full of tacks before wearing a romper. I hope. It is at least reassuringly difficult to imagine her wearing one. Unfortunately, I can picture Katherine Hepburn in one, but I’m willing to chalk that up to her loving pants and being thrust into one by a manager who thought it seemed more ladylike.

That’s why the only adjective that ever describes a romper is “cute.” No one ever calls it sleek. Or sophisticated. Well, I suppose some people do but those are either a) fashion writers picking adjectives out of a hat or b) idiots.  That’s because it almost never (an exception is made for Dita von Teese, because an exception is always made for Dita von Teese) looks like either of those things. Best case scenario, it has a sort of childlike appeal, worst case scenario, you look like trailer trash, and, by the way, your top is about to fall off.

You don’t need to look that saccharine, kitschy cute. You’re not a kindergartner.  You don’t need someone to pre-coordinate shorts and a shirt for you. Nor do you need to be going through an elaborate disrobing ritual every time you visit the restroom. You’re an adult. Dress like one.

Rachel Bilson was spotted running errands in Los Angeles, California and later hanging out with a friend. She was wearing Siwy jeans in Wonder wash. It has been a while since she was spotted in these jeans. I think Rachel has the best washes when it comes to denim, I have yet to see her in a bad one. Rachel is definitely dressing for the crazy weather here perfectly. It is cold one day, then hot the next, then unexpected rain happens. Huh… only in Southern California can weather be like this. Got a couple of minutes waiting in line and want to flip through a magazine? We tell you the one thing most worth reading.

“Your Glass or Your Ass” on page 316 is a sobering (pun intended) look at whether drinking alcohol makes it harder for you to lose weight. There’s science, but not so much that the article needs to be longer than two pages. However, I do have to dock points for a terrible Jon and Kate reference in the first paragraph.

If you have less time, or just want something a little less serious, the Tracy Morgan interview on the very last page is a work of art, as most Tracy Morgan quotefests are. Not to ruin it for you, but he tells a story about hooking up with a chick who had a wooden arm.
