One of the reasons I particularly love this time of the year is that everyone has fashion on the brain. Time Magazine’s ‘Style & Design’ supplement has just hit the news stands here in Europe and it has a gorgeous editorial spread shot by Alexi Lubomirski featuring Chanel Iman sporting some of Fall’s most dramatic looks including Lanvin’s grosgrain and wool dress. Also of note is the ‘Women In Luxury’ piece that features some of the luxury industry’s most influential players including Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo. If you’re looking to get your mind off of Wall Street’s current crisis, I highly recommend you pick up a copy. Enjoy!

If you haven’t already read it, I recommend Guy Trebay’s piece in Thursday’s New York Times ‘Style Section’ entitled Wanted: Genius Designer. He offers some interesting observations about the current state of fashion most notably with the constant quest for the “The Next Big Thing” and the obsession with celebrity-driven trends. The piece includes interesting quotes from Julie Gilhart, the fashion director of Barney’s New York and Robert Burke, a former fashion director of Bergdorf Goodman who is now a luxury goods consultant. Trebay, Gilhart and Burke are all trusted and respected members of the fashion industry which makes you sit up and listen when they speak.
