Black Out Style3

It’s ridiculous how short these posts are.  I’m uncomfortable with writing in such a sparse way but as we speak, I’m topless, trying to find a top in the suitcase that is swallowing up my clothes and my hair is dripping on the keyboard which might blow up if I’m not careful and I was suppsoed to leave six minutes ago.  I have a bit of a tale to tell about this outfit which was taken outside the Maison Martin Margiela show but it’s a long one… I’m calling it my Good Deed of the Year…as I generally don’t do good deeds…

Head over heels at Fashion Week

October 13th, 2008 by ChicHERE | No Comments | Filed in Fashion News

ChicHERE Head over heels at Fashion WeekIt was a scene reminiscent of the famous moment when supermodel Naomi Campbell toppled on the catwalk in a pair of Vivienne Westwood platform shoes.

Vanity Walk model Har Li was one of two models who fell during Annah Stretton’s show at the Air New Zealand Fashion Week yesterday, and it was a near miss for six others who wobbled and staggered in the high heels.

The problem was not the 10-centimetre height of the Mi Piaci platform slingbacks but a combination of factors. Li’s shoes were two sizes too big – nine of the models were wearing shoes that were too large for them – and footless tights pulled over the back of the models’ heels made walking an even more slippery business.

The model changes throughout the show were so tight that the dressers failed to fasten the buckles of some of the slingbacks tightly enough.Add to that the shiny chrysanthemum motifs on the runway and it was a recipe for disaster.

Luckily there were no serious injuries or twisted ankles, just bruised egos. “I just stood up and kept going. I felt really sorry for the designer,” Li said.Stretton said she had wanted to go back to the drama she loved, but falling models were not what she had had in mind.
